Dear Mr Watson,
I write to you as a very concerned resident of Wavertree, and proud Labour Party member.
I was horrified to hear, that yet again the good nature of Liverpool people in my area is being dragged through the mud. I find it disgusting and shameful of a Deputy Leader of our party to suggest “thugs” drove out our MP.
I would half expect it from the Tory party but I am absolutely sickened by your reiteration of the aspersions you cast at the time of the no confidence votes.
The members of the Labour movement in Wavertree had every right to raise questions about the loyalty of their representative.
To clarify; Luciana Berger was plotting and scheming to leave the Labour Party and form a new group in Parliament for some time. She took the Wavertree seat along as hostage.
The "thugs" to which you repeatedly refer came from outside forces and both the CLP and local people backed her all the way on that. In fact as you will be aware criminal convictions came and none of those involved a single Labour party member.
To my knowledge, one member of the Wavertree CLP is alleged to have made certain comments which quite rightly ought to be investigated.
But, as is the norm for some, I refuse to put someone on a social media trial without being able to offer a defence.
Why didn't you come down to the clp at the time if you were so horrified? Either way, do the actions of one individual mean all members should be, not just under suspicion but also direct attack by our deputy leader?!
Clarification is needed sharpish.
I feel an apology to the decent Wavertree Labour people is required because, face the facts Mr Watson, our suspicions were absolutely vindicated.
Where is Ms Berger now?
Still attacking the Labour Party, and instead of condemning people for betraying their seats you have actively supported their position and even suggested members calling for By-Elections are mean spirited.
This is outrageous Mr Watson.
Sincerely. Mr Swift. Wavertree Resident Labour Party Member.
