"Just sent this e-mail to John McDonnell c.c Jeremy Corbyn, Ian McNichol and Christine Shawcroft! :- Well, its past the deadline and I cannot tell you the sense of disappointment I feel after being denied my vote by 'administrative error'!
Christine Shawcroft had offered to take up the case of the sheer numbers of us that never received our votes even after asking for multiple re-issues. She came back to us to say that the team responsible were congratulated on all their hard work and that the excuse given by the NEC was that with such a large number of people voting, it was not surprising 'a few' batches of codes' seemed to have gone missing!
I am nearly in tears.
I have spent many hours each day since we started our Facebook page 'Corbyn50 plus Supporters Group' (to demonstrate we could indeed bring the over 50s back to voting Labour again under Corbyn). We have fund-raised for banners and got many thousands to sign up to Labour and Momentum and to turn out at rallies. We have raised £600 from our page for your campaign. I started all this and yet I find although I've not been suspended or purged, I get no vote due to this admin error which the NEC seem quite relaxed about!
We ran a poll on our page and although I know its not scientific but as a ball park figure from the 780 that responded about 5 percent never received their vote and around the same number suspended with a further 2 percent expelled entirely.
How can this be deemed to be an OK margin of error in a democratic election?
How can Mr McNicol, party General Secretary, be satisfied with this standard of performance?
I also messaged you privately via Twitter a number of times and you asked for my Membership details which I sent and then you never replied. I do realise you were very busy and the case of one members not getting the vote is hardly worthy of your attention but I was also concerned for the members of our page not getting one.
I myself tried for a re-issue no less than 4 times.
Christine said there was a record of it.
My husband who uses the same e-mail address as me got his e-ballot fine and a paper ballot too whilst I got neither. If the fault was at my end then surely we would have got neither? All details were checked and re-checked and the address was added to my e-mail address book as per the instructions, so no excuses for not getting my vote this end.
As a FULL Member of the Labour Party and UNITE I am now wondering why I bother to pay my membership or spend hours running a support group for you when nobody has bothered to secure my vote.
Its bad enough how people have seemingly been purged for the slightest thing but to just give up on people who simply didn't receive their vote due to these disappearing batches of codes is fairly irresponsible I think of the NEC!
Surely, someone should be held accountable for this? If the vote ends up being closer than we think it will be everyone will be left wondering if their vote might have made a difference.
I would appreciate a reply, if only to pass onto my FB page to quell the dismay and anger!
Update: The above was shared widely on social media and less that a day later Ms Darr had this uodate to share|
Just got this message form John Mcdonell to say they will be calling for an independent inquiry into this voting malarkey. Sound like he's had a lot on his plate with desperate plots. Here's his message:- I am sorry I didn't get back to you. I have been dealing with DM so many cases. I made sure Jeremy's office raised this with Labour HQ but we have met with continued resistance. At the same time I had to deal with the plots around the NEC meeting. We will be calling for an independent inquiry into this. John
